The prayer component has 4 tabs in the Options  page, and one recommended setting.

 

The first option tab (Prayer) holds the following settings:

Description: Is not used at this moment, will hold the content above the list of prayers

Approval: if the checkbox is checked, the prayer requests will be shown on the site only after the Administrator of the site approves them in backend, otherwhise they are shown and distributed as submitted.

Alerted Admins: Can be selected the Superuser who will be notified in a new prayer request sobmission

Distribution: the distribution model to be used. There are 4 options:

  • development mode - prayers are sent to the site's default address only
  • administrators - prayers are sent to site super administrators
  • subscribers - users who actively subscribed using the subscription form
  • all - all registered Joomla users but those who actively unsubscribed using the unsubscription form or clicked the unsubscription link in mails they received

Mailer: the mailing engine to be used. At this moment only the Joomla option is active - that uses the main Joomla mailing method, as set up in Global Configuration

Default email address: if the checkbox is checked, the default site email address - the one set up in Global Configuration - is used as the sender of the mails

Alternate email: this address will be used if the above checkbok is not checked.

The second options tab (Prayer request templates) holds the following settings:

Mail notification subject: the default subject of mails sent

Normal Prayer request mailing template: The WYSIWYG editor to build the HTML code with following placeholders for prayer details:

  • [web_version] - link to the prayer request,
  • [name] - name of user receiving the mail,
  • [prayer_requestor] - name of person requesting the prayer,
  • [prayer_requestor_email] - the email address of person requesting the prayer,
  • [prayer_title] - title of prayer,
  • [prayer_text] - content of the prayer

Anonimous Prayer request mailing template: The WYSIWYG editor to build the HTML code with following placeholders for prayer details:

  • [web_version] - link to the prayer request,
  • [name] - name of user receiving the mail,
  • [prayer_title] - title of prayer,
  • [prayer_text] - content of the prayer

Inline CSS: The CSS code injected into the mails to format the mail content properly

Show prayer on list: You can opt to show or hide the prayer's content in the prayest list (since 1.3.2)

The third options tab (Permissions) is the classic Joomla parmissions tab for the component

Here you can finetune who can see/do what.  Recommended to not be touched unless you know what you are doing ;)

The fourth options tab (Component) is also a classic Joomla thing:

Here you can enable/disable versioning for the component.


The last thing worth to know is that is highly recommended to setup menu items for all the key pages of the component. One single menu item is mandatory: to setup a hidden menu link accessible by Public userd for the Unsubscribe page.
