This month at JUGL London we got the first live public demo of J2Commerce 6 — and honestly, it's a belter. The demo is split into two parts. Part 2 to follow.

Adam Melcher and Olivier Buisard picked up the abandoned J2Store project about eighteen months ago and rebuilt it from scratch for Joomla 6. Not a refresh. A complete ground-up rebuild. The version number jumped straight to 6 to line up with Joomla 6, which tells you how much has changed.

What stood out on the night:

- The UI uses Joomla's native Atum look and feel, so it actually feels like part of core rather than a bolted-on extension
- REST API baked in from day one
- Built-in MCP server (yes, really)
- Drag-and-drop email builder and multi-image uploader
- Bootstrap 5 and UIkit layouts out the box
- Proper developer documentation
- Plus about a hundred other things they ran out of time to show

It's in public beta now. Worth a look if you do anything with Joomla
eCommerce.
